Oh. my. god.
By: jhb | July 1st, 2009The shirts posted earlier were apparently the training outfit, used only and solely for that purpose. The true kit had to be a little more exciting than that, dontcherknow!?
But this? Designed by a mad kitten on a trip of some very strange plants, who starting off with hoops, getting a hint that stripes make you look a lot skinnier when they’re up-down, and ended up with something.. like that!
Hah, here’s a positive side: we don’t have no sponsor yet, so get this shirt and you won’t have the beauty spoilt by an ugly red square bang in the middle of it! Surely that’s something? I really can’t believe it. Maybe if I keep looking at it all night, tomorrow already I will have gotten a little more used to it, and if repeat that every night, then, at the beginning of the season, seeing the guys running up in, well, those shirts, for the first time I might be at a point where I don’t totally despise it. Or maybe not. It’s not that it’s terribly ugly in any one particular aspect. It’s just that you get a very definitive feeling of an overachieving design apprentice at work..there’s enough ideas in there for 3-4 kits, why throw it all in at once? Diagonal stripes this year, that “we-know-our-fans-are-the-hardworking-honest-type-of-fellas” pre-designed dirt the year after, and maybe standard stripes after that? What’s so difficult to understand, Dr Do-You-Football? Apparently you don’t, or else you’d know that most fans hate adventurous designs. I don’t necessarily hate them, but this is just too much.
The away shirts are the ones posted very early already:

the white shirt looks good. I enjoy the look of the “unfinished charcoal” accents. However accents cant fix the home jersey.

Now all they need are the faux denim shorts similar to USA’s 1994 uniforms…
Still not as bad as Newcastle’s new away kit.
